Bob Herbert's op-ed this morning on the effects of the recession on children needs reading and re-reading. They are perhaps the hardest hit by all this as their parents struggle to make ends meet, as they lose their homes and safety net, and as they lose their health care. Things were not all that great for children in this country before this all came to light and the economic downturn makes it worse. Take a look at his last line and ask yourself what your community is doing.
