Scotland on Sunday recently published 15 suggestions for improving Scotland made by leading figures in the public and private sectors of that country. Scan the list and you'll see some that only apply to Scotland but many others likely are easily transferable to your own community. Just look at the areas of interest -- education, transportation, and health -- these are high-priority concerns in any community. Further, the Scots have a different take on these problems than many Americans, a look through the article might stir some new ideas of what's possible in your community.
The Scottish have demonstrated a real forward-looking attitude on community development and it wouldn't surprise me if we started hearing about some innovative new best practices from that country very soon.
