The Project for Public Spaces has released a new book that aims to empower citizens with the information needed to transform the public spaces in their communities. According to their website, "Through real-life stories, this book addresses such challenges as traffic control, crime, comfort and safety, and developing economic vitality."
In conjunction with the release of The Great Neighborhood Book, the Project for Public Spaces also made available a small (3-page) PDF with 9 steps to organizing a neighborhood event. Of course the theme of the event is transforming public space but it's a nice starter kit for those interested in improving their community space.
One caveat -- the book is brand new so I have not yet had a chance to read it. Please offer a comment below if you have read the book and want to share your thoughts on it.
